Not Supersucky Wednesday
Arrived at load-in for the Supersuckers' show during daylight, shocked to see old Tiger Stadium split in half next to the venue. Ghoulish photogs were taking pics of the partial corpse of the Detroit's past. A past that I never got to experience.
Corktown Tavern's upstairs venue room can maybe legally hold 120 people, but they have the best sound system, per capita(?), in town. 16,000 not-cheap watts in the mains alone gives enough clear headroom for even our loud asses. Brownloads more power (20k watts?) in the subs made the bands sound huge.

Supersuckers have the ironic cover down: a Commodores song ("Sail On") by Arizona rednecks will always get a smile from me. Though I appreciate Zeke's all-attack approach to rock longevity more, the Supersuckers' accessible country-rock tack is probably better for the band fund. They are road vets who can be a little prickly, but Rontrose was the cool guy I remember in person years ago...
They were awesome last night, as usual, but we were even awesomer. Having 3 guitarists gave me the leeway to wrestle a sputtering 1972 LP Custom while the other two half stacks cover my ass. Paraphrasing what Cobra Youth used to say, "Rock Mission: Success".
