After 10+ years of dealing with the divide on one side of the Ypsi / Arbor duel o' inferiority complexes. I'm done.

Ann Arbor has lost Pfizer and is about to lose a good chunk of Borders. Its houses are worth less than Ypsi circa 2005. Conversely, Ypsi is getting gentrified very slowly, like a boiling smeetfrog - people love to talk about what should get done, but they actually / physically do nothing other than move air compared to all the talk.

The two towns are becoming each other!
Mission Malaise 2010 accomplished.

Onto Wheeling,... I hear Pittsburgh thinks they are a town full of yokels and Wheeling laughs at Pitts' new status as more sooty than L.A.!

What's driven you out of the Ypsi/A2 argument arena?

And when wasn't Ypsi gentrified?

The nrrd factor has risen to Urkle levels. Not funny anymore. And I am getting fatigued defending our Jr. High snipemosphere to everyone outside the county... Though they do find it very entertaining. Gentry is a subjective thing best viewed from afar. It sucks that Andy and the new Elbow are running into their stonewall.

Andy has the best possible attitude as far as the whole thing goes. He's pretty positive about keeping SOMETHING going in Ypsi, be it the ER, the new place, or whatever.

I stopped caring what people outside A2 and Ypsi think about A2 and Ypsi years ago. You can't maintain community pride if you keep listening to a bunch of asshole who simply do not know what the fuck they're talking about.

Yeah. We need more Andys, Jennifers and people who do things like open The Rocket without talking about/up crap forever first. Beal does not count though: he dumps on others to get a lot of nothing. When AA stops touting its Places Rated stats, friends as far away as Austria kind of have a small right to snicker @ the bicker.

True enough, to varying degrees. But those are big words coming from the Worstershire aimed at a former Tampan (or are people from Tampa called Tampons still?)

No, the last few years have proven that this town is going down faster than a crack whore for a twenty dollar bill.

I think when Jake died, that was the final nail in the coffin.

Seriously though, I don't know when you have been downtown A2 last, but they are going crazy with tearing down buildings and putting up high rises. Pretty soon, I am going to need a map because there is so much here that is rapidly changing.

Not to mention punk rock means playing acoustic guitars and "punk shows" have become a mockery of what they once were.

And face it, Ypsi was pretty much dead until you came along. The Green Room was cool but it didn't do for Ypsi what the E.R. did.

What both towns need are some good bands that haven't been around for 10-20 years now. It'd be nice if some fresh new faces made some seriously good music. But that has not happened yet. Sure there are a few bands that sound "interesting" but nothing to the caliber that some of the bands from "back in t he day" had. I feel like the bands have stopped trying, the bar has been set too low, and so people will watch whatever is on stage just so that they can feel like they are a part of a scene. I mean, whatever happened to bands that put their heart and soul into what they do, like the Hyenas, like Mol Triffid, like the Jaks, etc etc.
That is the problem. How can something be built upon something that is not exciting, no offense y'all. But the reason why stuff was happening back in the day is because we were so motivated by the music we were listening to.

Unfortunately, it's like this all over the country, except for odd places that time leaves behind, like maybe Worcester or Wheeling?

The sacrifice-free war for the masses is my chosen culprit. If there were a draft,... blah blah blah.

DO YOU HAVE A DREAM THAT MIGHT MATCH OUR VISION?

In related news, I was driving by wawa stweet the other day, and thought wistfully of our once grand plan for a body farm. If only, if only.

I'll see what I can do.
With Farmer Doctor Mayor's permission, of course.
